Abstract & Details

The microwave biosensor configured of LC resonator embedded in the coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line has been designed, fabricated and investigated for the quantification of glucose concentration in aqueous solution. In this, the LC resonator is comprised of a meander inductor inserted between the inter-digital capacitors (IDCs) at both ends, in the signal conductor of CPW. The sensing mechanism has been observed with varying concentration of aqueous glucose sample. The RF measurements observed in the frequency range of 4-6 GHz showed that the aqueous glucose concentration is correlated with the magnitude and frequency of the S-parameters. Hence, the proposed sensor has a great potential as a real-time and label-free, sensitive, low-cost and reusable glucose sensor.
